Law At Work Sporting Achievement Awards 2011

The Law At Work Guernsey Sporting Achievement Awards Presentation Evening for 2011 took place at Beau Sejour in the David Ferguson Hall on Wednesday 18th January 2012 at 7:30 p.m. The Special guest speaker was Jorgen Petterson, Chairman of the International Island Games Association. Jorgen has recently been elected a member of the Aland Parliament which he combines with being a writer, chairman of the NatWest Island Games and chairman of the professional football club IFK Mariehamn, Aland which plays in the Finnish league.

The awards were established to acknowledge all island sports and those islanders who have achieved or exceeded their own sporting goals as well as elite sporting men and women. All of the awards are based purely on nominations from the public, sports clubs and associations.

Graham Chester, Operations Director of the Guernsey Sports Commission said “With the performance of the Guernsey Island Games Team in the Isle of Wight still fresh in our minds, it was interesting to see what nominations were forthcoming in the different categories from the sports that were participated in, as well as the highlights of the year from the whole wide range of sports.”
